ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP OF TRUTH MATTERS
CHARLES J. PAUL is a native Philadelphian, having attended parochial schools and graduated from Father Judge High School in 1983. Pastor Chuck came to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in 1997. Having a desire to reach the poor and forgotten in the City of Philadelphia with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he and his wife began an outreach ministry to the homeless population in July, 1999.
His work involved meeting homeless people on the streets, feeding and clothing them as best as possible with the few resources available to him, and sharing the Gospel. This work continued for approximately six months until he began attending a church located in the Philadelphia suburbs in June, 2000.
In 2002, under the name Philadelphia Dream Center and with the oversight of this suburban church, Pastor Chuck moved into a property on Callowhill Street in Philadelphia and began conducting outreach ministries. He also expanded the ministry to include a Sunday morning and Thursday evening Worship service. In addition to teaching and preaching, Pastor Chuck oversaw the education of the congregation and the day to day growth of the church and ministries.
In 2005, Pastor Chuck began questioning the every increasing demand for more and more people, as well as their doctrinal stance. An encounter with another pastor -who was a guest speaker at the church- soon changed all that, when Pastor Chuck was introduced to materials from Dr. John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, and Cross TV, and was encouraged to start attending Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. In early January, 2006 two men of the Philadelphia Dream Center began interning under Pastor Chuck and have grown tremendously from that experience.
In 2006, Pastor Chuck received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from Liberty University. That same year he also completed two semesters in the LAMP program, a seminary-level training recognized by the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA).
In mid-2006, Pastor Chuck separated from the parent church due to both doctrinal differences and unethical practices of the parent church uncovered by Pastor Chuck. Undaunted, Pastor Chuck established a new organization, named Philadelphia Community Church as a separate entity from any parent organization, to continue the outreach and ministry to the core group of believers under the doctrines of Reformed Theology.
In 2007, he began and continues his studies for Masters of Arts in Theology. That same year, he completed a one year pastoral internship under Dr. Philip Ryken, Sr. Minister, Tenth Presbyterian Church, who continues to serve as a professional and spiritual mentor.
Today, Pastor Chuck considers himself a
recovered (or reformed "seeker-sensitive, Pentecostal, purpose driven Pastor."He has become steeped in Reformed theology, and has attended several Reformed conferences, including:
- 2005 Shepherd’s Conference, Los Angeles, California
- 2005 Master Seminary – completed two classes in Reformed Apologetics
- 2006 Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology
- 2006 Ligonier Ministry Pastor’s Conference, Orlando, Florida
- 2007 Ligonier Ministry Pastor’s Conference, Orlando, Florida
- 2007 Pastor’s Conference on Expository Preaching hosted by Dr. Philip Ryken and Dr. Kent Hughes
- 2007 Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology
Pastor Chuck has a passion to teach God’s Word and counsel with God’s people. He envisions a modern day Reformation, where believers are both set free by and bound to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This reformation must begin in Worship to our Sovereign God - an experience during which we pass from the secular to the sacred, from the common to the uncommon, from the profane to the Holy. In order for such a reformation to take place, Pastor Chuck believes that there must be a groundswell of interest and activity around which God’s Word is sought and shared with the world. He envisions founding a Christian Education and Conference Center where people from all walks of life can come, hear the truth of God’s Word, and witness and/or participate in discussion, training and debate on all matters of Christian faith, life and perspective.
In 2007, Pastor Chuck, along with his Executive Minister, Joseph Morrison began a weekly Internet broadcast entitled Truth Matters, which has as its purpose not only defending the Truth of God’s Word, but also aggressively confronting Biblical untruth as well. An interview format allows discussion on a wide range of topics and provides a forum for pursuing this important ministry. All of the Truth Matters recordings are conducted in Lancaster, PA and Pastor Chuck now lives in Lancaster County. Pastor Chuck now spends his time teaching small groups, and traveling to different churches and conferences teaching God’s Word and explaining our need for living a transformed and Reformed life for Jesus Christ. In 2008, Pastor Chuck and his Executive Minister, Joseph Morrison founded the Reformation Now! Conference, which will be an on-going, annual conference. Pastor Chuck and Joe hope and pray to be able to launch these conferences soon. Always standing by his side, his lovely wife Mandy continues to be faithful in supporting Pastor Chuck in this important movement.
Today Pastor Chuck stands and preaches as an Independent Reformed
Minister. His life’s passion is to see God’s people fall in love with God’s Word. He also through his passionate way of preaching and teaching wants to see the people he comes in contact with to be radically reformed – transformed and set on Fire for the Lord Jesus Christ.

JOSEPH J. MORRISON, JR. is a native Philadelphian. He spent his youth growing up in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from Philadelphia public schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Lebanon Valley College, where he earned the David E. Long and Abram M. Long Memorial Ministerial scholarship for most promising religion major.
Mr. Morrison determined while in High School that he was being called into the ordained ministry. He enrolled in Lebanon Valley College as a part of the ordination process within the United Methodist Church, in which he was raised.
It was during his college years that Mr. Morrison began serving as Youth Director and Pastoral Assistant for Memorial United Methodist Church in Lebanon, PA. He was responsible for the administrative duties for a 175-member congregation, including responsibility for the total youth program, weekly worship service, counseling, and regular preaching. While there, he instituted a first-ever-successful Vacation Church School program by canvassing interest door-to-door throughout the surrounding neighborhood.
It was during his senior year in College that he came to understand that God was not calling him into the ordained ministry, and therefore Mr. Morrison did not pursue the seminary, but did graduate with a degree in Religion.
Mr. Morrison began his professional career with the Boy Scouts of America in January, 1985, dealing with corporate executives in establishing mentoring programs for high school aged young adults. He advanced to several other roles, including Sr. District Executive and eventually, Finance Director, where his duties included personally directing six special fundraising events annually- including one celebrity Golf Tournament and the recruitment of Chief Executive Officers as volunteers. Morrison was also involved in many other types of programs, fundraising and administrative projects while at the Scouts, including direct mail development, grant writing and found¬tion solicitations, individual gift requests, cor¬porate fundraising, newsletter development, and running a city-wide workplace phase of "Scouting for Food."
In 1995, he founded and incorporated a small marketing communications/desktop publishing company, securing contracts with the City of Philadelphia, PECO Energy, and WDAS radio.
When an offer posed itself, Mr. Morri¬son restructured the company into, and sold it as, an Internet based business for the provision of senior care facilities and services. His outgoing duties were limited to continuing corporate alliances, and providing vision for the strategic plan.
Mr. Morrison refined his management skills as Executive Director of Interfaith Housing Development Corporation of Bucks County, which he assumed in September, 1998. In this role, he provided the top leadership, direction and fundraising expertise to a four¬teen-year-old affordable housing nonprofit organization and had responsibility for property development and rental programs of over $3 million annually. He was accountable for the complete administration and cultivation of eight full time staff members, a twenty-nine member Council of Representa¬tives, a fifteen member Board of Directors and over five hundred volunteers. Mr. Morrison developed a keen awareness of human service issues, and strengthened the organization by attracting top quality leadership to the board and staff and securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in public, private, state and local funding.
In 2001, Mr. Morrison assumed the position of Chief Development Officer for Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. The position was expanded in 2004 and renamed Deputy Director, Administration and Finance. In this role, Mr. Morrison was responsible for all financial administration, fundraising strategy and implementation of a $10 million housing development project. His duties included cash management for the organization’s $1.2 million annual operating budget, creation of a fundraising plan, which was unanimously adopted by the Board of Directors, the recruitment of all personnel to fulfill the plan, and the securing of all monies needed to reach the overall goal, including sponsorships, project sales, gifts-in-kind, special events, appeals, direct mail, and foundation and grant solicitations.
On many occasions, he has led staff and volunteer teams responsible for overachieving organizational and project-based goals.
In 2006, Mr. Morrison co-founded InSource, Inc. – an organization providing “shared professional resources” to the area’s non-profit and church communities.
Around that same time period, Mr. Morrison began working with The Philadelphia Dream Center in raising the much needed funding to support the outreach ministries.
In mid 2006, Mr. Morrison accompanied Pastor Chuck as he handled the separation from the Dream Center parent church and ultimately reorganized the organization into Truth Matters. It was during this separation that Mr. Morrison exhibited his true character and made his stand against the untruths being propagated by the parent church.
Drawn to reformed theology during this experience, Mr. Morrison soon became the program host for the weekly Internet interviews conducted by Truth Matters and was appointed as Executive Minister.
As the Executive Minister of Truth Matters, Inc., and Truth Chapel, he is currently responsible for providing hands-on executive management for all aspects of the ministry and congregational life. He also serves as program host for the weekly interview broadcast on Truth Matters. His background provides him a wide range of skills and experiences from which he draws his management and leadership styles. In addition, he has attended the following conferences:
- 2006 Ligonier Ministry Pastor’s Conference, Orlando, Florida
- 2007 Ligonier Ministry Pastor’s Conference, Orlando, Florida
- 2007 Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology
Mr. Morrison has received numerous recognitions and awards, has held many community leadership positions, and serves as a consultant to many area churches and nonprofit organizations.
Mr. Morrison currently lives in Morgantown, PA with his wife, Leslie. He has two grown sons, David and Peter.
Mr. Morrison’s personal mission statement characterizes his personality: “To help others experience a sense of Divine excellence and to inspire them by precept and example.” Although his fingerprints can be found on almost every aspect of the movement, he possesses a quiet energy and humble spirit which helps him to capture the complete confidence of staff, contributors and volunteers alike.
